More Informed Decisions. Better Patient Outcomes.

Stop The Trial-and-Error Medication Trap.

Your DNA influences how medications work in your body. Our pharmacogenomic testing helps identify the right medication and dosage sooner — so you can avoid unnecessary side effects and get on the right path faster.

What Is PGx Testing — and Why Does It Matter?

Most medications are prescribed using a one-size-fits-all approach. But each person's body processes drugs differently based on their unique DNA. Pharmacogenomics (PGx) is the science of understanding how your genes affect how you respond to medications.

1

Stop Guessing, Start Knowing

Instead of trying medication after medication, a simple cheek swab tells your doctor how your body is likely to respond — before you even fill the prescription.

2

Fewer Side Effects

Adverse drug reactions are the 4th leading cause of death in the U.S. Knowing your metabolism type helps avoid medications that could harm you.

3

One Test. A Lifetime of Value.

Your DNA doesn't change. This is a single test you take once that continues to inform your care for the rest of your life.

For Senior Living Providers

Reduce Polypharmacy Risks in Your Residents

Seniors take an average of 5+ medications daily. PGx testing helps your clinical team identify which residents are at risk for dangerous drug interactions or poor medication response — proactively, not reactively.

  • Reduce fall risk from medication side effects
  • Minimize hospitalizations from ADRs
  • Support person-centered care planning
  • Bulk testing programs available for facilities

Typical Resident Profile

Warfarin (blood thinner)Ultra-Rapid Metabolizer
Sertraline (antidepressant)Poor Metabolizer
Metoprolol (heart)Normal Metabolizer
Oxycodone (pain)Intermediate Metabolizer

A Global Medication Crisis

Millions of lives at risk.

Non-optimized medication therapy leads to massive waste and preventable deaths. Most labs ignore the "Critical Equity Gap," using data sets that are 80% European.

  • Dangerous Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs)
  • Trial-and-error antidepressant cycles
  • Ineffective Pain & Cardio treatments

"One-size-fits-all" fails because every body processes medication differently. PHD Laboratory bridges this gap.

It felt like we got Mom back.

When 78-year-old Margaret became foggy and dizzy on her antidepressant, PHD Lab revealed her genetic variation was causing a toxic buildup. Her doctor adjusted the dose using PGx results. Two weeks later, she was back in her garden.

Common Questions

What are the benefits of PGx testing?+

PGx testing helps identify how your genes affect your body's response to medications — enabling your doctor to prescribe the most effective medications at the right dose the first time. Benefits include fewer adverse drug reactions, less trial-and-error with prescriptions, faster relief, and better long-term outcomes across mental health, pain management, heart health, and more.

Is this covered by my insurance?+

Medicare Part B covers PGx testing for patients meeting specific clinical criteria. We also accept CareCredit, HSA/FSA, and major credit cards to ensure accessibility for all.

Do I need a doctor's order?+

If using insurance (Medicare/Advantage): Yes, a doctor's order is required. We handle routing your clinical report directly to your provider.

If paying privately (self-pay/CareCredit/HSA): No doctor's order is required to receive the test. However, we strongly recommend sharing your results with your healthcare provider so they can apply the insights to your care.

What happens to my DNA after testing?+

Your privacy is our top priority. Your cheek swab sample is used solely for the purpose of your PGx test and is analyzed in our CLIA/COLA-certified high-complexity laboratory. Your genomic data is stored in HIPAA-compliant, encrypted systems. We do not sell, share, or use your DNA for research without your explicit consent. You retain full ownership of your data.

How long do results last?+

Forever. Your DNA does not change. This is a one-time test that provides a lifetime of medication safety insights.
